Cool sounds mate! What you running your guitar through here?
Cool sounds mate! What you running your guitar through here?
I'm using my Line 6 POD Go for the tone, and running it through just a simple 2 channel Focusrite Interface. There's 7 layers of guitar in here. 3 on each side and then 1 in the center for the lead parts.
Nice! Really enjoyed it, I reckon you should push the drums a bit though!
Loved the solo at the end too.
Thanks so much for the review! Yeah, I agree about the drums. I'm always too stingy with the compression. But glad you enjoyed it. :)
Nice to hear someone else recording and scoring music! Woo!
Thanks dude, glad you like it. :)
This would benefit enormously from some reverb, rubato, and expressive playing. Really cool though!
Thanks! Yeah I did this before I figured out how to make a tempo track in Cubase. Glad you like it
The melody makes this awesome. Super catchy early on. Awesome.
Thanks! Never thought it would be catchy... Oh well! XD
Cool. More of 1:23 to 1:49, less of the clear repeating chordal pattern at 1:50. Really exciting!
whatever you say m8, thanks for the feedback
I think the piece is really harmonically interesting! It may sound a little more sophisticated if you avoid exact repetitions of phrases - to me this feels a little at odds with the dissonance of the harmony. This piece would also be very hard to play IRL.
The velocity of some of the sections is set too high. I really liked the changing dynamics but be careful it doesn't distort.
Finally, put one piano in the left and one in the right. You can't hear the antiphonal exchanges! Slap some reverb on too, makes it sound more real.
Thanks for the review! Yeah the mixing was done quite poorly, and that's for the fact i actually made it on a rush. But whenever i have the opportunity to give a remaster on it, i'll do it with no doubt.
Yeah i wanted to go nuts with this harmony. I wanted to put some chromatissism, tritones and inharmonic intervals in a lot of places. Also when it comes to phrase repetition, thx for the tip! And yeah, this is probably on Liszt's level of technique. xD
About the dynamics, i've noticed it too, but as i said, i made it on a rush (actually i don't know if that counts as an excuse, anyway).
Also thanks for the hints on panning and reverb, this was actually my first piano song so i'm still fresh on it. :P
Really cool, didn't expect it to go all glockenspiel!
I think you'd benefit from practising with a metronome, some of the fast alternate picked runs were a bitt off-centre. Awesome though!
That's because of the Reaper input lag, thanks so much!
Nice but the drums sound a little rigid and unhuman. Maybe fiddle about with velocity, etc...?
Thanks for stopping by! I think you must have misunderstood the intention of the track though. It's a video game track heavily inspired by the 80's and old school music styles, the stiff drums is part of the concept in this case, adding humanity to it would take away a lot of the charm. The drum sounds and the way they are played are intentionally robotic. Glad you enjoyed it!
Club classic! Very noice.
Sorry to be a horrible pedant but orchestration and arrangement are slightly different, but still related, things :)
Hey Daveisgr81, thanks so much for the review! :) I'm glad you enjoyed this arrangement. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting it to take off as it did, as it was only a test of Logic Pro at the time, so that's why the orchestration is a little bit straight-laced. I hope you enjoy this, and my other works!
